College to Host Apprenticeship Roundtable for Employers
February 19, 2024
Hudson Valley Community College will host “Apprenticeships, SUNY Training Funds and You: An Employer Roundtable,” on Friday, March 1, from 8:30 – 11 a.m. in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center.
The event, hosted by the college’s Division of Workforce Development and Community Education, aims to bring together Capital Region business owners who are interested in learning more about the state Department of Labor’s Registered Apprenticeship program as well as funds available through the State University of New York for workforce training.
Those attending the roundtable will have the chance to ask question about how Hudson Valley can help facilitate getting started with apprenticeship training and how to access training funds available through SUNY.
“Registered apprenticeship is a proven strategy to build a skilled workforce, and it certainly benefits both the employer and the apprentice. We also want Capital Region employers to know about training funds available through SUNY that we at Hudson Valley can help them access,” said President Roger Ramsammy. “I urge business owners to join us and learn how Hudson Valley Community College can help them.”
The college currently offers apprenticeship programs in: advanced manufacturing technology, computer information systems, biotechnology, electrical construction and maintenance, and basic direct care skills. The college’s Division of Workforce Development and Community Education oversees customized workforce training.
